Friendship
Feast
In early winter of 2000, members of the First Presbyterian Church heard about a
homeless man living under a bridge here in Dodge City.  Feeling the need to
reach out to the homeless and less fortunate in town, members discussed what
could be done to help them.  One of the members offered to pay a cook's salary
for one week.  Food was quickly collected and two weeks before Christmas,
Friendship Feast opened its doors.  That first day, Friendship Feast served seven
people.  Word of mouth spread swiftly and by the end of the week, more people
were coming.  Seeing the need for nourishing and warm meals for these people
along with the desire to continue this ministry, the decision was made to keep the
kitchen open for another week.  Friendship Feast became so successful that it has
become one of the primary missions of the First Presbyterian Church.

Friendship Feast is a non-profit organization that depends entirely on donations
and contributions from the community.  Not only is this a church mission, it has
become a community mission.  Most of the work is done by volunteers from the
church and the community, with the assistance of a couple of paid staff.

Friendship Feast is open Monday through Friday 11:30 am to 12:45 pm.
Free will donations are accepted for the meal.

"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of
these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." Matthew 25:40
